Apa itu Kanker?

Kanker adalah sekelompok lebih dari 100 penyakit yang berbeda. Itu bisa berkembang hampir di mana saja di tubuh.

Bagaimana kanker dimulai
Sel adalah unit dasar yang menyusun tubuh manusia. Sel tumbuh dan membelah untuk membuat sel baru saat tubuh membutuhkannya. Biasanya, sel mati jika terlalu tua atau rusak. Kemudian, sel-sel baru menggantikannya.
Kanker dimulai ketika perubahan genetik mengganggu proses yang teratur ini. Sel mulai tumbuh tidak terkendali. Sel-sel ini bisa membentuk massa yang disebut tumor. Tumor bisa bersifat kanker atau jinak. Tumor kanker bersifat ganas, artinya dapat tumbuh dan menyebar ke bagian tubuh lainnya. Tumor jinak berarti tumor dapat tumbuh tetapi tidak akan menyebar.

Beberapa jenis kanker tidak membentuk tumor. Ini termasuk leukemia, sebagian besar jenis limfoma, dan mieloma.

Jenis kanker
Dokter membagi kanker menjadi beberapa jenis berdasarkan di mana mulainya. Empat jenis utama kanker adalah:
• Karsinoma. Karsinoma dimulai di kulit atau jaringan yang menutupi permukaan organ dalam dan kelenjar. Karsinoma biasanya membentuk tumor padat. Mereka adalah jenis kanker yang paling umum. Contoh karsinoma termasuk kanker prostat, kanker payudara, kanker paru-paru, dan kanker kolorektal.
• Sarkoma. Sarkoma dimulai di jaringan yang menopang dan menghubungkan tubuh. Sarkoma dapat berkembang di lemak, otot, saraf, tendon, sendi, pembuluh darah, pembuluh getah bening, tulang rawan, atau tulang.
• Leukemia. Leukemia adalah kanker darah. Leukemia dimulai ketika sel darah yang sehat berubah dan tumbuh secara tidak terkendali. Empat jenis utama leukemia adalah leukemia limfositik akut, leukemia limfositik kronis, leukemia mieloid akut, dan leukemia mieloid kronis.
• Limfoma. Limfoma adalah kanker yang dimulai di sistem limfatik. Sistem limfatik adalah jaringan pembuluh dan kelenjar yang membantu melawan infeksi. Ada 2 jenis utama limfoma: limfoma Hodgkin dan limfoma non-Hodgkin.

Ada juga banyak jenis kanker lainnya.

Bagaimana kanker menyebar
Saat tumor kanker tumbuh, aliran darah atau sistem limfatik dapat membawa sel kanker ke bagian tubuh lainnya. Selama proses ini, sel kanker tumbuh dan dapat berkembang menjadi tumor baru. Ini dikenal sebagai metastasis.

Salah satu tempat pertama kanker sering menyebar adalah ke kelenjar getah bening. Kelenjar getah bening adalah organ kecil berbentuk kacang yang membantu melawan infeksi. Mereka berada dalam kelompok di berbagai bagian tubuh, seperti leher, area selangkangan, dan di bawah lengan.

Kanker juga dapat menyebar melalui aliran darah ke bagian tubuh yang jauh. Bagian ini mungkin termasuk tulang, hati, paru-paru, atau otak. Bahkan jika kanker menyebar, itu tetap dinamai dari daerah awal mulanya. Misalnya, jika kanker payudara menyebar ke paru-paru, itu disebut kanker payudara metastatik, bukan kanker paru-paru.

Mendiagnosis kanker
Seringkali, diagnosis dimulai ketika seseorang mengunjungi dokter tentang gejala yang tidak biasa. Dokter akan berbicara dengan orang tersebut tentang riwayat medis dan gejalanya. Kemudian dokter akan melakukan berbagai pemeriksaan untuk mengetahui penyebab dari gejala tersebut.
Tetapi banyak penderita kanker tidak memiliki gejala. Untuk orang-orang ini, kanker didiagnosis selama tes medis untuk masalah atau kondisi lain.

Kadang-kadang seorang dokter menemukan kanker setelah tes skrining pada orang yang dinyatakan sehat.

Contoh tes skrining termasuk kolonoskopi, mammografi, dan tes Pap. Seseorang mungkin memerlukan lebih banyak tes untuk mengonfirmasi atau menyangkal hasil tes skrining.

Untuk kebanyakan kanker, biopsi adalah satu-satunya cara untuk membuat diagnosis yang pasti.
Biopsi adalah pengangkatan sejumlah kecil jaringan untuk dipelajari lebih lanjut.

Bergabung dengan kelompok pendukung pasien dapat membantu Anda menyesuaikan diri dengan kehidupan setelah serangan jantung. Anda dapat melihat bagaimana orang lain yang memiliki gejala yang sama dapat mengatasinya.

Bicarakan dengan dokter Anda tentang kelompok dukungan lokal atau periksa dengan pusat medis daerah.

Dukungan dari keluarga dan teman juga dapat membantu meredakan stres dan kecemasan. Biarkan orang yang Anda cintai tahu bagaimana perasaan Anda dan apa yang dapat mereka lakukan untuk membantu Anda.

Kehidupan Setelah Serangan Jantung

Banyak orang yang selamat dari serangan jantung dan hidup aktif dan penuh. Jika Anda mendapat bantuan dengan cepat, pengobatan dapat membatasi kerusakan pada otot jantung Anda. Lebih sedikit kerusakan jantung meningkatkan peluang Anda untuk kualitas hidup yang lebih baik setelah serangan jantung.

Tindak Lanjut Medis
Setelah serangan jantung, Anda memerlukan pengobatan untuk penyakit jantung iskemik. Ini akan membantu mencegah serangan jantung lagi.

Dokter Anda mungkin merekomendasikan:
• Perubahan gaya hidup, seperti mengikuti diet sehat, aktif secara fisik, menjaga berat badan yang sehat, dan berhenti merokok.
• Obat-obatan untuk mengontrol nyeri dada atau ketidaknyamanan, kolesterol darah tinggi, tekanan darah tinggi, dan beban kerja jantung Anda. Beberapa obat ini dapat membantu Anda mencegah serangan jantung lagi.
• Obat anticlotting, seperti aspirin, yang mungkin diresepkan dokter untuk membantu Anda mencegah serangan jantung lagi.
• Program rehabilitasi jantung

Jika Anda merasa sulit mendapatkan obat-obatan atau menyelesaikan program rehabilitasi jantung, bicarakan dengan dokter Anda. Jangan menghentikan obat atau program karena dapat membantu Anda mencegah serangan jantung lagi.

Kembali ke Aktivitas Normal
Setelah serangan jantung, kebanyakan orang yang tidak mengalami nyeri dada atau ketidaknyamanan atau masalah lain dapat dengan aman kembali ke sebagian besar aktivitas normal mereka dalam beberapa minggu. Sebagian besar dapat langsung mulai berjalan.

Aktivitas seksual juga dapat dimulai dalam beberapa minggu untuk kebanyakan pasien. Bicarakan dengan dokter Anda tentang jadwal yang aman untuk kembali ke rutinitas normal Anda.

Jika diizinkan oleh undang-undang negara bagian, mengemudi biasanya dapat dimulai dalam waktu seminggu untuk sebagian besar pasien yang tidak mengalami nyeri dada atau ketidaknyamanan atau masalah ketidaknyamanan lainnya. Setiap negara bagian memiliki aturan tentang mengendarai kendaraan bermotor setelah sakit parah. Orang yang mengalami komplikasi tidak boleh mengemudi sampai gejalanya stabil selama beberapa minggu.
